Marcia Miller, Founder and CEO of Mud Pie, has been named a finalist for the EY Entrepreneur of The Year 2015 Southeast Program. The prestigious awards program recognizes entrepreneurs who demonstrate excellence and extraordinary success in such areas as innovation, financial performance and personal commitment to their businesses and communities. The business leaders were selected by a panel of independent judges. Winners will be announced at a black-tie awards gala on June 24 at the Country Music Hall of Fame® and Museum in Nashville, Tennessee.
Miller built Mud Pie from the ground up, from a small gift company with a handful of products and a catalog created at a local photo store, to a leader in the gift industry with thousands of products. In the last 27 years, Mud Pie has earned a loyal following for their Living, Kids and Women’s Fashion Collections that are currently sold through 16,000 specialty and independent retailers worldwide.
The timing for this recognition couldn’t be better, as Miller just announced that she has regained 100 % ownership of Mud Pie. In 2010, Miller sought outside investment to facilitate the growth of Mud Pie. Now 5 years later, Mud Pie has doubled in size both physically and financially. With that high rate of growth, the entrepreneur decided that it was too good an investment to pass up and one that would be financially impossible down the road.
Miller is a two time recipient of the prestigious ICON HONORS and was awarded the inaugural “Trailblazer Award” by Gift for Life. Mud Pie was named one of America’s fastest-growing, privately held companies by Inc. Magazine.
